If you know me, you probably know I almost always have a smile on my face. But for a long time, that smile didn't always reflect what was happening inside.
There was a constant inner pressure to prove myself. Everything I did had to be perfect. And whenever I inevitably fell short of my own impossible standards, it felt like confirmation of what I already feared deep down: that I wasn't good enough.
That belief ran my life. The fear of making mistakes made me avoid opportunities, procrastinate, and feel anxious in situations others seemed to handle with ease.
It was a learned pattern.
It all changed when I stopped trying to fix myself from the outside in and started understanding where the pressure actually came from.
The perfectionism, the restlessness, the constant need to prove myself it wasn't who I was. At some point, I had learned that performing well was how I felt safe. My nervous system had simply held onto that lesson long after it stopped serving me.
So every time I tried to push through the pressure, to outwork it or outperform it, I only made it stronger. I was using the pattern to escape the pattern.
What actually helped was learning to work with my nervous system instead of against it. To understand why the patterns were there. To create safety at the level where they actually lived.
Not through willpower. Not through thinking my way out. But by facing the feelings I'd been outrunning and slowly, through my body, showing my system that it was safe to let go.
Today I feel more at home in myself than I ever have. And that's what I want for you.
Most approaches work at the cognitive level. That's one piece. But if the body doesn't feel safe, insight alone won't create lasting change.
